by Nicholas Karatzas 17 Dec 2022

Who doesn’t love a juicy, ripe piece of fruit? But with so many types and varieties, it can be hard to know when to buy which fruit. To make things easier for you, we’ve put together a list of 50 fruits and the best time of year to buy them. So now you can enjoy your favorite type of fruit year-round!

Apples: Apples are available all year round, but the peak season is from August through October. Look for apples that have an even color with no bruises or soft spots.

Apricots: Apricots come into season in May and June. Choose ones that are firm and deep orange in color, as these tend to be the ripest.

Bananas: You can find bananas pretty much any time of year; however, if you want your bananas to last longer, look for ones that are still slightly green at the tips. They will ripen in a few days on your kitchen countertop.

Blueberries: The best time to buy blueberries is from June through September when they are in peak season. Look for blueberries that are bright blue in color and smooth without any wrinkles or blemishes.

Cherries: Cherries come into season around mid-June and last until late July or early August depending on where you live. Look for cherries that have a glossy red skin with no signs of mold or decay on them.

Peaches: Peaches come into season around late June through early August depending on where you live. Look for peaches that have an even yellow-orange color with no bruises or soft spots on them.

Plums: Plums come into season around mid-July and last until late August or early September depending on where you live. Look for plums that are firm yet give slightly when gently squeezed; avoid any with soft spots or blemishes on them as these will not be as sweet as those without any defects.

Raspberries : Raspberries come into season from July through September depending on where you live. Be sure to look for ones that have a deep red color, as this indicates ripeness. Also, check for any mold before buying.
